Our first innovative technique heralded the existence of Van der Avoird Trayplant in 2002: propagating raspberry plants in a tray. An innovative step that made many in our industry follow suit.
Between 2003 and 2004, Van der Avoird Trayplant started propagating raspberry plants. With this, we reached a milestone of 1 million plants in 2004!
Construction on the Rimpelaar continued and the first employees were hired in this year.
2005 is the year we started growing the plants organically.
However, we are not a completely organic company. We do use chemicals, if necessary. The basis remains organic, but if the plants are sick, we want to be able to help them.
IIn 2006, we had our first excursion abroad. Hello, United Kingdom!
Alongside the start of the Machielsen expansion site, we also became the European market leader in raspberries.
We start producing strawberries in Spain. Hola!
Our first plants went outside of Europe in this year!
And since 2011, we even have a fully recycled growing system.
In 2012, we started at an additional location on the Schoolstraat in Molenschot.
This year, we started the first demo tunnel, enabling us to improve our research.
A milestone of 10 million plants!
Construction of the De Leeuwerik site in Bavel with 3 ha of greenhouse and 15.4 ha of fields.
A festive opening of the De Leeuwerik location!
Our first air shipment is sent to the Canary Islands.
We won the Agricultural Entrepreneur of the Year (Agrarisch Ondernemer van het Jaar) award in 2018!
As winner of this award, Peter van der Avoird got to have lunch with the king and queen! We also started the construction of location “Renne”.
The first sorting robot became a reality and we achieved a milestone of 25 million plants! We also installed 1845 solar panels on the roof and the Minister of Agriculture visited us.
In 2020, we installed a cold and heat storage system to make our company even more sustainable.
In 2021, we started the high-tech new construction at the Rimpelaar site and our “Farming that Works for Nature and Society (Goed Boeren voor Natuur en Maatschappij)” initiative got off the ground.

The grand opening of the high-tech new Rimpelaar building will take place in 2022.
We are proud that we can inspire with our vision: less burden on nature, but still meet the growing food needs. We are working on the food of tomorrow, but we are keeping an eye on the planet with our common sense
